Speech pathologists work in the areas of communication and swallowing disorders. They also assist children and families in reaching optimal function in social settings and getting along with peers by developing play and social skills. Our Speech Pathologists support children to improve:

Speech sounds

Speech that is difficult to understand and may include specific errors such as ‘wed’ for ‘red’ or ‘nake’ for ‘snake’

Language delays

Young children who aren’t speaking yet or aren’t speaking as much as expected for their age.

Eating difficulties

Difficulty eating a variety of textures, coughing/choking when swallowing, limited variety in diet, challenging family meal times

Literacy

Alternative & augmentative communication (AAC)

Communication devices and alternative means of communication

Developing and maintaining friendships

Conversational skills

Developing an understanding of neurotypical and neurodiverse conversational skills and developing new conversational skills if they want to
