Barefoot Therapists is a multi-disciplinary paediatric practice that provides services from birth right through the teens in the beautiful surrounds of the Mornington Peninsula. Offered from our Barefoot Child & Family Centre in Rosebud and Gadara Farm in Boneo (just a 3 minute drive away) our team is ready and waiting to welcome you onboard.

We are definitely a practice with a difference! Dress in smart casuals for the clinic, or gumboots for the farm, the choice is yours. Our clinic has a garden and large, light rooms for you to work in. Our philosophy at Barefoot is to provide effective clinical therapy with a friendly and accessible feel, that values both clients and staff alike. We focus on motivating and engaging young people in a wide variety of activities in helpful and fun everyday settings. Our service is steered by a strong clinical leadership team who guide our speech pathologists, OT’s, dietitian, psychologist, teacher and art psychotherapist to develop their skills and enjoy the positive and supportive culture at Barefoot.

Who you are

You are a new graduate, or early career speech pathologist with a passion for paediatrics.

You have a current drivers licence and your own car, and hold NDIS worker screening and a current working with children check.

You are excited about, and committed to, applying the highest standards of best practice and working holistically with your clients across a varied caseload that reflects your interests and skills. You are looking for not just a job, but a career with a practice who will invest in your personal and professional development and enable you to develop the skills and expertise you require to hone your chosen specialisation in the field of speech pathology.

You role will include:

  • Pre-school and school-aged speech, language and pragmatics programs
  • Completing standardised assessments and corresponding reports
  • Delivering engaging evidence based 1:1 therapy 
  • Running group programs, often in conjunction with an OT
  • Coordinating with key people in the child’s life including their families, educators, health & medical professionals and support workers 
  • Supporting families to navigate the NDIS 
  • Setting and reviewing client goals to improve and monitor function
  • Working creatively with children and their families to achieve results
  • Connecting families to other local services and support

What we offer

This position has been designed to support a new graduate or early career speech pathologist. You will receive weekly supervision with our senior speech pathologist, a reduced caseload which will grow slowly, the opportunity to observe our skilled multidisciplinary team in action and joint sessions with senior speech pathologist during your induction so you can see how we do things here at Barefoot.

Barefoot provides a range of professional development, coaching and clinical supervision opportunities. Sarah Munn trains allied health professionals in Animal Assisted Therapy with a special interest in including horses in Occupational Therapy Programs. Sarah Munn provides external clinical supervision and teaches on the La Trobe Animal Assisted Therapy course for health professionals. Sarah mentors in Green Care and Care Farming, and has provided presentations for Animal Therapies National Conference.
